Zurich North America has announced the appointment of Andy Peterson as regional executive for its East Region, effective Jan 1. Peterson (pictured above) will report to Carl Sutter, head of distribution, US middle market.

In his new role, Peterson will be responsible for executing Zurich’s business strategy in the East Region, which stretches from Maine to Virginia. Peterson will have executive responsibility for distribution management and business development across all Zurich business segments, including national accounts and the middle market.

“We are excited to have Andy take on this critical field leadership position,” Sutter said. “His knowledge of our organization and the marketplace, along with his extensive background in underwriting and distribution, position him very well to lead our distribution and regional management strategies in the East Region.”

Peterson joined Zurich in 2008. He most recently served as senior broker relationship leader. His previous roles at the company include regional vice president for the Northeast Region, head of operations for specialty products, head of private equity, and senior vice president for financial lines.

He began his career at AIG as a financial institutions underwriter before taking on roles of increasing responsibility, including leading the Mid-Atlantic region for financial institutions and launching the financial lines division for AIG Small Business.
