Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company has announced a partnership with Capgemini to introduce two digital solutions that will help the insurance company and its brokers in Ontario better serve their customers.

Through the partnership, Capgemini will help Wawanesa implement Guidewire InsuranceSuite and BluePass. InsuranceSuite is the system that will be used to support Wawanesa’s policy, claims and billing management, while BluePass extends the platform’s capabilities to brokers, providing them with an efficient method for real-time policy transactions.

With BluePass, brokers in Ontario can quickly find information on policies and accounts, submit new business, change or cancel policies, update billing information, and process payments, a release said. The system is also expandable, which allows for the addition of new products.

According to a company statement, the launch of InsuranceSuite and BluePass in Ontario is part of Wawanesa’s systems renewal initiative, which has already been implemented across its other operations in Western Canada.

“This partnership accelerates our commitment to delivering industry-leading tools to our Wawanesa employees and brokers in Ontario,” said Wawanesa Canadian P&C operations president Carol Jardine. “It’s a major step in optimizing our insurance operations so we can offer brokers unparalleled service and set an even stronger foundation for innovation and growth – and, most importantly, provide an exceptional customer experience to policyholders served by our brokers.”

Shane Cassidy, Capgemini Financial Services executive director of insurance, commented that Wawanesa’s use of the Guidewire platforms “represents a turning point” for the company.

“It’s a new chapter in one of the largest IT transformations in Canada,” said Cassidy. “What started in 1896 as a small venture with local farmers, is now Canada’s largest mutual insurer.”
