Travelers Canada is donating personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company collected its surplus supply and donated 1,500 gloves and 250 N95 masks to support medical workers. Travelers Canada’s donation was a response to Olympic gold medalist and hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser, who called for personal donations of PPEs.

“We know frontline medical professionals are putting themselves at risk every day to help others,” said Travelers Canada president and CEO Heather Masterson. “Since we have implemented a virtual claim process to safeguard our employees and customers in this environment, we had extra PPE sitting in storage that will now be put to good use by healthcare workers. We hope this small contribution will help address the need on the frontlines.”

In a company release, Travelers Canada explained that the donation is part of several other relief efforts in this difficult time.

One of the other measures implemented by Travelers Canada is its “Stay-at-Home Auto Premium Credit Program,” which provides the company’s personal auto insurance customers a credit of 25% on one month’s premium. Travelers Canada has also accelerated its payments to eligible insurance brokers to support them. The company additionally noted that it has pledged $5 million to help communities across Canada, the US, the UK, and the Republic of Ireland.
