Economical Insurance has announced it channelled nearly $1.2 million to communities across Canada last year through charitable donations and sponsorships, as part of its social responsibility efforts. Almost 30% of these funds were given in association with brokers partners across the country.

Likewise, the firm’s employees volunteered more than 3,000 hours during the work week throughout 2017 and supported more than 100 different registered charities. Almost 500 of these hours were spent in schools helping 2,516 Canadian students realize their potential through the delivery of Junior Achievement programming in financial literacy and the importance of education. Employees also conducted nearly 15,000 acts of kindness.

With regard to the environment, the firm diverted 79% of operational waste away from landfills in Waterloo, Ontario, where the company is headquartered.

“At Economical, we know that we are stronger together. This is true from our valued broker partnerships, the commitment of our employees, and the impact we have in the communities in which we operate,” said Rowan Saunders, president and CEO of the insurance firm. “This is why we are committed to the communities where we live and work, and we see this commitment as a core part of what makes us a leading insurer in Canada.”
