Two insurance companies have announced donations to the Canadian Red Cross to support the non-profit’s humanitarian work in Ukraine, supporting those affected by the recent conflict.

Both Desjardins Group and iA Financial have each made $100,000 donations to the Canadian Red Cross’s fund. The funds raised for the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Relief Fund will allow the non-profit to carry out relief efforts, support affected individuals and communities in their long-term recovery, and create resiliency in other humanitarian activities in response to the emerging needs of Ukraine and its surrounding countries, which includes displaced populations.

“Our thoughts are with the people affected by the current situation,” said Desjardins Group president and CEO Guy Cormier. “We’re very aware of the many repercussions this conflict is having.”

“We would like to express our support to the Ukrainian communities in Canada and in the United States, which are represented among our employees, distributors and clients,” said iA Financial Group president and CEO Denis Ricard. “Our thoughts and hopes for a peaceful resolution of this conflict are with you.”

Both companies have encouraged the public to make their own donations to the Red Cross’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Relief Fund, via the organization’s official website.
