Duuo by Co-operators has announced the launch of its inaugural event insurance API integration with Univerus Sport & Recreation.

Through this partnership, Co-operators’ embedded insurance arm combines its industry expertise with the user experience technology provided by the Univerus booking platform.

The API integration introduces a streamlined process for Canadians to book recreational facilities and secure event insurance coverage directly within the Univerus Rec platform.

It also offers added benefits to facilities using the Univerus Rec platform, with venues becoming included as an extra insured entity on purchased policies.

“After lots of collaboration with Univerus, it's incredibly exciting to see our APIs officially integrated within their platform,” said Sunni Shannon, senior manager, partnerships at Duuo. “Considering event insurance was a prominent pain point for both clients and facilities, I'm incredibly proud that we can now provide reliable protection to Canadians through one seamless experience.”

“With the help of Duuo's API technology, we’re thrilled to provide this enhanced experience to Canadians who utilize our rental booking software,” added Jeff Downie, EVP at Univerus Sports & Recreation.

“One of my favourite aspects about this new integration, and the feedback we've heard most from our clients, is that a facility is automatically notified when someone purchases or cancels a policy on our platform, making it much easier to manage insurance information.”

The API integration is now available as an add-on service for all clients of the Univerus Rec platform.

Duuo previously announced the launch of its embedded insurance API in July. It said the offering aims to allow Canadian businesses to integrate insurance purchases into their websites, apps, or platforms.
