Wawanesa completes digital transformation, brings entire product suite online

Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company has brought commercial and garage property products on to its Guidewire InsuranceSuite, making the insurer one of the first insurance providers in Canada to have its entire product range online for brokers to tap into.

InsuranceSuite serves as the core system that supports Wawanesa’s policy, claims, and billing management. With garage and commercial property products made available on the platform, Wawanesa now offers all of its 12 enhanced products in the provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Maritimes.

The platform allows Wawanesa and its broker partners to benefit from simplified policy management, accelerated onboarding, improved analytics and pricing. In addition, the platform generally provides a better and faster experience for brokers.

“This is the last step in a technological transformation that we started in 2015 and has culminated in a new digital foundation that allows us to integrate with broker APIs, digitize our business processes, respond to market conditions quickly and launch new products in partnership with our brokers,” said Wawanesa president of Canadian P&C operations Carol Jardine.

Jardine added that, as a mutual insurer, Wawanesa and its brokers are committed to serving its policyholders. The $300 million investment in the InsuranceSuite platform has strategically positioned Wawanesa to “meet and exceed today’s and future customers’ digital expectations of insurers,” the president stated.

The launch of garage and commercial property products on InsuranceSuite is a key part of Wawanesa’s “Strategic Systems Renewal” initiative, which the company says aims to transform service experiences for both brokers and customers through technology investments.

“The release of commercial lines (garage & commercial property) as part of the Strategic System Renewal program is a great achievement and marks an important time in Wawanesa’s digital transformation journey to centralize underwriting, claims, billing, and broker-initiated transactions in a single, digital insurance platform with bilingual support for English and French users,” commented Capgemini executive vice-president Tim Dwyer.
