Property and casualty insurance brokerage, BrokerLink, has today announced its acquisition of Major Brothers Limited, a Nova Scotia-based brokerage that has provided insurance solutions in the local community since 1922.

Located in Halifax and Dartmouth, Major Brothers provides both personal and commercial insurance services. The firm was purchased by current president, Roger Ghiz, in 1982. His stated mission was to provide services and products that give clients peace of mind, while also building Major Brothers’ presence in the communities in which it does business.

Ghiz believes partnering with BrokerLink will help with this mission. Commenting on the deal, he said: “We believe in building close relationships with our clients, employees and the surrounding community. BrokerLink is community focused and puts the interests of their clients first, which is why we trust they will carry on our mission.”

The deal became effective on February 01. Ghiz is now assisting BrokerLink with the transition, and Major Brothers employees have become part of the BrokerLink team.

“Major Brothers has a great team and we are excited to welcome them to our family. Atlantic Canada is an important region for our operation,” said Joe D’Annunzio, president of BrokerLink and MCT Insurance, a division of BrokerLink. “We already serve a large number of communities in Atlantic Canada and we will continue to actively pursue acquisitions in the area.”

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
