Canadian brokerage giant BrokerLink has added two new firms to its ever-growing network. Alberta-based Challenge Insurance Group Inc. (Challenge) and Ontario-based Toronto Insurance & Financial Group Inc. (TIFG) joined the brokerage cluster on January 01. Terms of the transactions have not been disclosed.

Challenge was established in 2007 and is headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. It offers a variety of group, home, auto, commercial and financial services products, and will help BrokerLink to grow its personal, commercial and group insurance presence in the province.

“We’re impressed with BrokerLink’s scale and network. We know they have what it takes to take us to greater heights,” said Challenge president Kevin Shaigec, who will remain with BrokerLink. “This decision will benefit both our customers and employees.”

TIFG has been serving the insurance needs of the greater Toronto area since 2015. President Chris Mihalakakos will also remain with BrokerLink after the deal.

He said: “Our priority has always been customer service. We know that by joining BrokerLink, we will only be raising the bar when it comes to providing customers with a superior and outstanding experience. Our customers will also benefit from the investments in technology that BrokerLink offers.”

BrokerLink’s president Joe D’Annunzio said he’s excited to welcome the Challenge and TIFG teams to the network. He added: “Kevin and Chris have all built their businesses by putting customers first and providing value-added professional advice. These have translated into many long-term and high-quality customer relationships. From the start, it was clear that they were the right fit for us.”
