Inga Beale (pictured), the first and only female Lloyd’s of London chief executive who was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2016 for her services to the economy, has added Crawford & Company to her long list of credentials.

It’s been announced that the Dame is now part of the claims management giant’s board in her capacity as an independent director.

Commenting on Beale’s arrival, Crawford & Company president and CEO Harsha V. Agadi noted: “Inga brings an array of international insurance carrier experience that will positively impact Crawford strategy going forward. She will provide insights, counsel, and perspectives that will complement those of the existing board members and from which Crawford will benefit.

“I look forward to partnering with Inga as we continue to deliver on our mission of restoring and enhancing lives, business, and communities across the globe.”

Meanwhile non-executive chair Charlie Ogburn highlighted the value of maintaining a more inclusive board of directors. Earlier this month, the firm formed an Office of Diversity to design and implement programmes that promote an inclusive culture and focus on achieving Crawford & Company’s diversity goals.

“With the election of Dame Inga, Crawford now has three female directors on its nine-strong board and proudly joins other leading companies who have taken the important step of having at least three female directors,” said Ogburn.

Beale’s career spans time spent at Prudential Assurance Company in London, General Electric’s insurance division, Converium, Zurich Insurance Group, and Canopius. Currently she also serves as deputy chair at campaign group London First; independent board member at insurance law firm Clyde & Co; and advisor at tech firm NTT Data UK.
