Employee demands are changing with the insurance industry evolution. Modern workers want a first-class digital experience, open communication, snazzy aesthetics and increased flexibility.

They want the ability to be able to compete effectively against industry disruptors and to have some fun while doing it. These demands are part and parcel of an organization’s workplace culture – something that a good employer should strive to get spot on.

Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company is an industry leader in workplace culture and employee satisfaction. The Canadian specialty insurance and surety company recently retained its title as the Insurance Industry Employer of Choice award at the Insurance Business Canada Awards 2017

“We at Trisura are extremely honoured to have been recognized for a second time as the Insurance Business Employer of Choice,” said Mike George, president, CEO and co-founder of Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company. “Our business goes home on the elevator every night and our employees, and the relationships they have with our broker partners, are absolutely critical to our ongoing success.

“This remains a people business, and we strive to hire and retain the best in the business.  Recognition that we are the employer of choice in the insurance industry is of huge benefit to us in our quest to become Canada’s leading specialty lines insurer.”

This is not the first accolade Trisura has won in 2017. In November, the company was selected by Aon as a Best Small & Medium Employer in Canada for 2018 - for the third consecutive year.

George attributes Trisura’s success to the company’s “consensus culture” and “team environment”. The insurer has an open style of management and complete transparency among all employees so that “everybody’s on the same page.”

“We recognize that our employees have choice in terms of where they spend their careers, and we have worked hard to deliver a culture and an environment where they can not only thrive and learn but where they can also have some fun along the way,” George told Insurance Business.

“For 2018, Trisura intends to continue to focus on growing our business strategically with our brokers and helping them be even more successful. We are increasing our capacity, broadening our appetite for business and adding new product segments and services, including a number of technology enhancements designed to assist our brokers in being even more efficient.”
