Trisura Guarantee Insurance’s vice-president of surety business has announced her retirement, effective March 01, after a successful 32-year career in the insurance industry.

Janet Mascitelli joined Trisura back when it was still a start-up in 2006. A release noted that she was instrumental in helping develop and lead the fledgling company’s surety team. Although originally working on contract surety, she later transitioned into developer surety.

Prior to joining Trisura, Mascitelli was a financial analyst at GCNA, eventually transitioning into the role of a contract surety underwriter – one of the very few women in the field of surety at the time. She also once worked at CIBC, back when she was still based in her hometown of Saint John, NB.

“A true ambassador to Trisura, Janet was always involved in the company’s activities and events, especially when it came to support various charities,” Trisura said in a release announcing her retirement. “Janet has been a great teacher and mentor to all the underwriters that worked for her, and a great friend, colleague and inner conscience to everyone that worked alongside her.”
