The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) has issued a statement praising Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company for its recent contributions in improving broker data connectivity.
Wawanesa submitted nine additional Application Programming Interfaces (API) to the Reusable Data Services Library (RDSL) hosted by the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO). The APIs, which are now freely available on the RDSL for CSIO’s vendor and carrier members, can be downloaded and implemented by users in order to develop their own solutions.
The new APIs include a Quote API, New Business API, and a Policy Inquiry API. All of them can be accessed from the RDSL on CSIO’s website.
Not only does Wawanesa’s sharing of its APIs make it easier for CSIO’s members to quickly develop their own applications, but it also signifies another step toward achieving real-time broker connectivity, IBAC said in its statement. In particular, the move is seen by the association as a major contribution to its own Data Exchange (DX) project.
